Receiving “Not Authorized” or “Internal Error” when turning on a Zap

This often means that your Eventbrite account doesn't have the proper permissions to the event that you're trying to use in your Zap. Generally, it is required that you be an administrator before you're able to connect your Eventbrite app to Zapier and use the New Attendee and other triggers.

You can fix this by contacting your Eventbrite organization administrator, and requesting they provide you with administrator access so that you can connect your Eventbrite account to Zapier. Once your permission are enabled in Eventbrite, you can try connecting your Eventbrite account to your Zap again.

Events aren't showing up in the Events dropdown

This usually happens if the user who connected to Zapier is a sub-user in their Eventbrite account.

Only the main account holder can see the events in the account through Zapier. Sub-users aren’t able to see other events, even if they create the event themselves.

To get around this, you should connect the main administrator’s account to Zapier instead of yours. To do that:

  • Go to Eventbrite.com and log out of your account
  • Log in as the main account holder
  • Back in Zapier, go to your Connected Accounts page: https://zapier.com/app/settings/authorizations
  • Click "Reconnect" on the Eventbrite account—when you see the popup, confirm the main account holder is logged into Eventbrite
  • Try setting up your Zap again

Note: Sub-users can use the single “Find Event” action, but if they select the “Own Events?” checkbox, no events will be returned because they technically can’t own any events.

How to check whether you're a sub-user

If you're a sub-user, you should see the email of the "main account" on the top right, like so:

If you're the main account holder, you should just see something like this:

(403) Forbidden response and "Invalid permissions." error message

Confirm you are not using a sub-user email address, but a main account email address as documented above.

My Eventbrite trigger is triggering slowly

For Eventbrite triggers that are not instant, in order to ensure that we only trigger on new items that have complete information, your zap will make sure that a new item shows up with the same info in consecutive checks for new data. This can result in zaps triggering on new items more slowly.

I created a new event but it didn't trigger my zap

Events created in Eventbrite need to be published in order to be picked up by the New Event trigger. Double check to make sure that the event is in a published state.

Triggering Off All Attendees Across All Events

You can now trigger off all attendees across all events on the "New Attendee" trigger. Just set the status in the options of your Zap to "all" like this:

If you are using the "New Attendee (LEGACY)" trigger, you will need to switch to the "New Attendee" trigger to get this feature.

Custom Questions & Answers

Zapier now supports the ability to pass through data like custom questions and answers when triggering off of New Attendee.

Promotional tracking codes

Unfortunately, we do not yet support this in our Eventbrite integration through Zapier.

Seemingly duplicate triggers for New Attendee when ordering multiple tickets

When people order multiple tickets by selecting a quantity, they only have to provide contact information for one person. However, Eventbrite will notify us of every single attendee. They all share the same contact information. The only difference is the ID and barcode. The ID of the additional attendees will have an increment like 456123-1. What may also confuse you is that the quantity field of each attendee will be 1.

How do I find the main event ID?

When you're looking at the dropdown list of your Eventbrite events in your Eventbrite trigger, you might see events with the same name and different numeric ID values. A single event might have multiple available times, and the unique IDs are associated with different even times. You can find out which ID is associated with the event that you are trying to trigger off of in your Eventbrite account. The event ID is in the URL in your browser, ie - https://www.eventbrite.com/myevent?eid=12345 where "12345" is the ID number associated with your event.
