About Docusign's app

Are self-hosted or cloud-hosted accounts supported? Cloud-hosted accounts only
Is a paid Docusign plan required? No
Are any special account permissions required? Yes
  • Users need the following scopes:
    • signature
    • extended
    • webforms_read
    • webforms_instance_write
Are there usage limits? Yes
  • Each account is limited to a certain number of requests per hour, specified by the X-RateLimit-Limit response header. The limit applies to every request.
  • Hourly API usage refreshes at the top of each hour (for example, 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM). There’s also a shorter, 30-second burst limit that prevents you from making more than 500 calls in a very short period of time.
  • Header Description X-RateLimit-Limit: The maximum number of requests that can be made in an hour from all apps associated with an account. This value is 3,000 by default. You can update this limit for eSignature API calls through the API limit management feature if your account meets certain prerequisites.
  • X-RateLimit-Remaining: The remaining number of requests for this hour.
  • X-RateLimit-Reset: The timestamp when the rate limit will reset.
  • X-BurstLimit-Limit: The maximum number of API requests you can make in a 30-second burst from all apps associated with an account. This value is 500.
  • X-BurstLimit-Remaining: The remaining number of requests for this 30-second span.
Are there pagination limits? No
Do trigger samples use real data from your account or generic data? Real trigger samples
Are custom fields supported? Yes
  • Custom envelope fields and custom tabs created inside of an envelope/template will appear in some triggers.
Do update actions overwrite or append to existing data? Overwrite existing data
Is there any additional info? Yes
  • If you're not very active on Zapier, your Docusign app connection may be disconnected. This occurs because Docusign refresh tokens expire after 30 days. To prevent this, DocuSign recommends setting up a polling trigger that filters out all envelope types. This trigger will run periodically to keep your refresh token active. You can find out more details about this at https://developer.zapier.com/app/9415/issues/110
