Follow Up Boss and Zapier help automate your real estate CRM tasks. You can use triggers like new contacts or deal updates to automatically create tasks, add notes, or apply action plans.
Prerequisites
To use the Follow Up Boss app on Zapier, you must have:
- A paid Follow Up Boss account.
- Correct permission level to the information you need. Access permission are based on your role, requiring you to have one of the following roles: Owner, Admin (Broker), Agent, or Lender access.
Connect Follow Up Boss to Zapier
Find your Follow Up Boss credentials
To find your API Key, refer to Follow Up Boss’s instructions.
If API Key Restriction Power-Up is enabled, reach out to your Follow Up Boss Account Owner.
Connect to Follow Up Boss on Zapier
To create an app connection to Follow Up Boss on Zapier:
- Go to the Apps page.
- Click + Add connection.
- A new dialog box will appear. Search for and select Follow Up Boss.
- Click Add connection.
- A Connect an Account page will open in a browser tab or window.
- Enter your API Key.
- Click Yes, Continue to Follow Up Boss.
Your Follow Up Boss account is now successfully connected to Zapier.

- New Appointment (Instant) - Fires when a new appointment is created in Follow Up Boss.
- Deal Stage Updated (Instant) - Fires when the stage of a deal is updated in Follow Up Boss.
- Person Stage Updated (Instant) - Fires when a contact's stage is updated in Follow Up Boss.
- New Deal (Instant) - Fires when a new deal is created in Follow Up Boss.
- New Contact (Instant) - Fires when a new contact is created in Follow Up Boss.
- Tag Added to Contact (Instant) - Fires when a tag is added to a contact in Follow Up Boss.

- Find a Contact - Search for a contact by email, phone number, or Follow Up Boss ID.
Actions
- Add Collaborators - Adds selected users as collaborated on a given contact.
- Apply an Action Plan to a Contact - Applies a selected action plan to a contact.
- Create or Update Contact Without Triggering Action Plans - Creates a new contact in Follow Up Boss or updates an existing one. IMPORTANT: This will not trigger action plans!
- Create Note - Creates a note on a contact.
- Log Call - Logs a call on a contact.
- Reassign Agent - Assign a different agent to this contact.
- API Request (Beta) - This is an advanced action which makes a raw HTTP request that includes this integration's authentication.
- Add Tags to a Contact - Adds tags to a contact.
- Change Stage of a Contact - Changes the stage of an existing contact.
- Create Deal - Creates a deal on a contact.
- Create Task - Create a task for a contact.
- Pause an Action Plan for a Contact - Pauses a selected action plan for a contact.
- New Inquiry or Website Event - Notify Follow Up Boss when a new inquiry is received or an event on your website happens. For example, someone inquiries about a property, views or saves property as a favorite, an IDX registration or contact form. This will trigger action plans if a new lead is created from the event.
Limitations
- You can only enter data in up to 5 custom fields.
- Rate limiting restrictions apply, if you exceed these limits, you will receive a 429 error.
- Specific event types required for action plans. Only certain event types ("Registration", "Seller Inquiry", "Property Inquiry", "General Inquiry", and "Visited Open House") will trigger action plans and notifications when using the "New Inquiry or Website Event" action.
- To use Follow Up Boss with webhooks, you need to have Owner permissions.
