Table of Contents
A Linked Record field lets you create a relationship between two different tables. You can use the content of the other table to fill or update records of your current table.

Advanced
You can identify a Linked Record field by the
icon. Information in that field will appear surrounded by a border.
You have two sets of data:
- A table called "Orders" that stores all your shop orders.
- A table called "Customers", with all the customer details, such as their shipping address and email.
You can add a Linked record field to the "Orders" table to display the customer's address related to that order. If you update the customer's address on the "Customers" table, the address will also be updated in the "Orders" table. This ensures that you send the products to the correct address.

Add a Linked Record field
- Click Add field on the right side of a table.
- Select the Linked Record field type. A sidebar will open.
- Type a name for the field.
- Click the Table to link to dropdown menu to select an existing table from your account.
- Once you select a table, click the Display field dropdown menu to select a supported field
- (Optional) Select the Allow linking to multiple records checkbox to allow users to select multiple options within the same record.
- You can only link records to a table you own.
- Linked Record fields can only be edited by the owner of the linked table.
Create and update linked records through a Zap
You can create or update a table record that has a Linked Record field using a Zap. You can map values from a previous Zap step that match either the ID or the label of one of the existing values in your Linked Record field.

Define how the Zap behaves for invalid records
If the value added to a Linked Record field is not a valid option for that field, you can decide how the Zap should act:
- Fail the step if linked record value(s) cannot be found (default): The Zap will return an error if any of the values in the Linked Record field is not valid.
- Skip invalid linked record value(s) and continue: The Zap will create or update the record, recording valid values in the Linked Record field, and ignoring any invalid values.
