With Formatter, you can use spreadsheet-style formulas in Zaps the same way you do with popular spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel, Numbers, and Google Sheets. You can apply the formula to data coming from different sources and send the results of the formula to another app.

This option can be used with numbers or with text.

1. Add a Formatter step

In the Zap outline, click the Action step or the plus sign + to add a new action. A dialog box will open.
In the search box, search for and select Formatter. The right sidebar will open to the Setup tab.
Click the Event dropdown menu and select Numbers or Text, depending on the information you'd like to map to this step.
Click Continue.

2. Set up your transform

The Spreadsheet-Style Formula transform supports many different functions. You can use data from previous steps in your formula.

Click the Transform dropdown menu and select Spreadsheet-Style Formula.
Click the Formula field and write your formula, mapping data from previous steps wherever needed.
Click Continue.

Note

If the fields you're using in the formula include text (not just numbers), you must wrap each of them in double quotation marks.

3. Test your formula

Click Test step. You’ll see the results of your formula.

Note

If you’re using spreadsheet-style formulas to compare values, the output will be “true” or “false”. If the compared values are equal, the output is “true”. If the compared values are not equal, the output is “false”.

Once you set up a spreadsheet-style formula step, you can use the results in other actions in your Zap.
