Zapier Lead Router lets you automatically route incoming leads to your sales team based on rules you set, ensuring even and accurate distribution. Leads can come from any app available on Zapier, through a Zap trigger. This article explains how to set a Zap with Lead Router as an action.

Beta

This product is in closed beta release. It's in active development and may change.

Prerequisites

To send leads to Lead Router, you must have:

  • A paid Zapier account. Learn more about Zapier plans.
  • Set up a router to receive your leads.

Create a Zap

To get started, create a new Zap in your account home.

  • In the left sidebar, click + Create. A dropdown menu will appear.
  • Select Zaps. You will be redirected to the Zap editor in a new browser tab or window.
  • Once that's done, you must set up a trigger and an action.

Set up a trigger

A trigger is an event that starts a Zap. After you turn on your Zap, Zapier will monitor for that trigger event. When it occurs, the Zap will then run through every action in your workflow. You can use any app you use to collect leads that is available on Zapier.

Learn how to set up a trigger with our step-by-step guide.

Set up the Lead Router action step

An action is an event your Zap performs after your trigger event occurs. Whenever your Zap triggers, the Zap will then run through every action in your workflow. To send leads to Lead Router, you must add an action step using the Route Lead action event.

  1. In the Zap editor, select the Action step. A dialog box will open.
  2. In the search box, search for and select Zapier Lead Router. The right sidebar will open to the Setup tab.
  3. Click the Action event field to open the dropdown menu.
    • Select Route Lead.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. In the Configure tab:
    • Click the Router field to open the dropdown menu and select the router you want to send leads to.
    • Any fields you've set up in Lead Router will appear in this tab. Map the lead's information for each field, from the trigger step.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Click Test step to check if the step is sending the right data.
    • You can click Skip test to test later.

Once you finish setting up your Zap, turn it on by clicking Publish in the upper right. Zapier will actively monitor your trigger app for new data and run your action steps each time your trigger event occurs. Your Zap will only monitor for and trigger on new data that occurs after it's published.

Once you add this action, you can add any others to send the trigger data to other apps as well. Learn more about how to set up an action.

How billing works in Lead Router

The Lead Router charges your Zapier account for each lead that is successfully routed. Each time the Route lead action in a Zap runs successfully, it counts as 30 tasks. This is a fixed rate. Any other action steps in the Zap will count as one or zero tasks when run successfully, depending on what app you use. Learn more about how task usage is measured in Zapier.
