If you’re having trouble turning on or publishing your Zap, it could be due to one of the following issues:

If specific error messages are appearing in the editor, refer to Zapier’s error reference guide.
Zap has incomplete steps
If your Zap is missing steps or doesn’t have all the required fields filled out, you will not be able to turn it on. In the Zap editor, a warning icon
will appear in the upper left of incomplete Zap steps. To turn the Zap on, you must finish setting up the step, including filling in all required fields. If you're unable to complete a step because you can't successfully test the step, learn what to do if sample data won't load.
App accounts are not connected
If the app accounts used in your Zap are not properly connected, your Zap cannot be turned on. To check if there are issues with your app account connection:
- Open your Zap in the Zap editor.
- In the Account tab, the step will display a warning icon if there are issues with the connection.
- Click the three dot icon ICON next to the connection to open the dropdown.
- Click Reconnect. A dialog box will open.
- Follow the instructions in the dialog box to reconnect your app account.
You can also manage your app account connections in the My apps page.
Connected app limitations
Some apps require a paid subscription in order to use their API. If you’re not on a paid subscription for these apps, it will affect your ability to use them in Zaps. Any known app limitations or restrictions are documented in the app’s "How to Get Started" article or you can contact the app's support for more help.
Zapier account limitations
If you’re on a free Zapier plan, you cannot turn on your Zap if it:
- Uses a premium app.
- Is a multi-step Zap, which has more than one action step.
You must have a paid Zapier plan to use premium apps and build multi-step Zaps.
Your draft is identical to the published Zap
You cannot publish a Zap draft if it is the same as the current published version. The Publish button will remain disabled until you make changes to the draft.
Your account has publish approvals enabled
If you're a member of an Enterprise account, your account admins or owner may have publish approvals enabled. You must request approval from an account admin or owner to publish, edit, add step notes to, turn off, or delete a Zap.
If you’re still unable to turn on or publish your Zap after taking these troubleshooting steps, contact support for further assistance.
