When using either the ChatGPT (OpenAI) app, you see an error message stating, "[insufficient_quota] You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details."
This error happens when testing the Zap step or in Zap history after your Zap runs.
Causes
This error happens when:
- You do not have an OpenAI API subscription setup in your OpenAI account. This is separate from your ChatGPT plan.
- You've reached the API usage limit for your OpenAI account.
- You’ve reached your OpenAI rate usage limit. This can happen if the Zap triggers frequently in a certain period of time.
How to fix it
To fix the issue, follow these steps:
Setup OpenAI API subscription
- Go to your OpenAI billing settings.
- Add credit to your OpenAI account.
- Learn more about OpenAI prepaid billing.
Exceeded API usage
- Check the API usage limit for your OpenAI account. If you frequently see this error, you may need to set a higher monthly budget or wait until the next billing cycle before you use OpenAI again.
- You can also review your current token usage to understand how your tokens have been consumed.
- Once you’ve increased your limits or waited until your next OpenAI billing cycle, replay your failed Zap runs.
- This may not work if your Zap continues to trigger frequently or if you make significant changes to your Zap. Learn more about how replay works.
Reached rate limit
- Review your Zap history to see if your Zap triggered a large number of times in a short period.
-
Replay your Zap runs.
- This may not work if your Zap continues to trigger frequently or if you make significant changes to your Zap. Learn more about how replay works.
- Increase your rate usage limits in OpenAI.
- (Optional) If you want to run your OpenAI step less frequently, consider adding a Filter step so your Zap runs only for certain events or not all.
