Apps are web services or applications, such as Google Docs, Slack, Salesforce, or one of your company’s internal tools. Zapier offers over almost 8,000 apps, so you can set up workflows that connect your apps to automate repetitive tasks.

You can connect apps together in Zaps, Tables, Interfaces, and Canvas.

Types of apps

There are three kinds of apps that you can use in Zapier:

Zapier’s built-in tools

Zapier’s built-in tools are apps that let you customize your workflows. You can use them to add advanced functionality, like filtering, formatting, and adding conditional logic to your workflows. They are created and maintained by Zapier. Anyone can use them in their Zaps.

Public apps

Public apps are apps that anyone can use on Zapier. They’re listed in the App Directory. These apps are created and maintained by Zapier or its app partners in the Zapier Platform.

Some public apps may be premium apps. Premium apps are available to users on paid plans or during a free trial. View the full list of premium apps in the App Directory.

Private apps

Private apps are apps that are under active development, or created for private use on Zapier’s Developer Platform. Private apps are not available on Zapier’s App Directory, and can only be accessed by invite from the app developer. You can use private apps for personal, internal (e.g. with your team) or controlled-access use.

Discover apps

Browse apps in the Zapier App Directory

The App Directory is great for exploring all of the apps that Zapier connects to. Look for the apps you already use or discover new apps to help you be more productive.

Review app tags

App tags provide information about the status of the app you’re using. They show whether an app has special requirements or describe the version of the app. Understanding these app tags will help you make informed decisions about an app’s features and usage.

Learn more about app tags in Zapier.

View connected apps

In the Apps page, you can view all apps that you connected to your Zapier account. If you’re on a Team or Enterprise plan, you can also see any app connections that were shared by other members of your account.

Can’t find the app you’re looking for?

There are a number of alternatives that you can explore:

  • If the app you want to use doesn’t have the action you need, you can create custom actions or API Request actions.
  • If the app isn’t available on Zapier but supports REST API, you can use webhooks.
  • If none of those apply, try an alternative, like using RSS, email, or Apple’s Shortcuts app.

App management

Restrict and allow app access

If you’re on an Enterprise plan, you can control which apps members of your account have access to. You can do this by either restricting or allowing apps.

Learn more about managing access to apps.

Static IP address

  • If you use PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server (MSSQL), Zapier offers static IP address connectivity.
  • Team and Enterprise plan users can use Zapier’s Static IP address feature to connect to various supported public apps and enable it for private apps.
