Summary formulas add a summarization formula to any number field in a Zapier table. You can select from sums, averages, counts, and others.

Add a summary formula

To add a summary to a field:

  • From the Tables home, click the name of your table.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the table to display the formula row.
  • Click the down arrow at the bottom of your number field. The summary menu will open.
  • Select the summary formula you want to display.
    • Click it again to unselect a summary formula.
  • To close the menu, click anywhere outside the menu when you're done.

If you select more than two summary formulas, a plus sign + will appear beside the results in the summary row, along with the number of other formulas you selected. You can display other results by clicking the summary row.

  • You can select any number of summary formulas.
  • The summary formulas are displayed in the same order they appear in the menu.
  • Summary formulas will not appear on a CSV file when you download records.
  • You cannot add summary formulas to Formula fields.

Summary formulas and filters

If your table has filters, summary formulas will only consider the visible range of values. The results of summary formulas will change if you update filters.

Summary formulas and views

Summary formulas are not displayed on any views associated with a table. You must add summary formulas for the fields in a view. Summary formulas only take into account the range of values available in that view.

Summary formula types

You can select from the following summary formula options:

Summary formula Usage
AVG Average of all values in the range.
COUNT Count of all values in the range. Blank records are not counted.
MAX The largest value in the range.
MIN The smallest value in the range.
STDDEV The standard deviation of all values in the range.
SUM The sum of all values in the range.
VARIANCE The variance of all values in the range.

Remove a summary formula

To remove a summary formula:

  • Scroll down to the bottom of your field.
  • Click the summary row. A dropdown menu will open.

Select the formula you want to remove.
